FAQs

  • Yes! Breastfeeding support is a key part of my kraamzorg services. I provide hands-on assistance to help establish breastfeeding, troubleshoot challenges, and build your confidence.

I bring over 20 years of experience supporting parents with breastfeeding. As a self-taught lactation consultant, I’ve been helping families since 2003. I breastfed my own children for several years, worked as a volunteer with La Leche League, and continuously follow courses to stay updated on the latest breastfeeding practices. I also bring with me all the necessary tools to support you, including a breast pump, ensuring you have everything you need for success. My approach is holistic, blending natural remedies with evidence-based techniques and emotional support to create a personalized plan that works for you.

  • Kraamzorg is typically provided for up to 8 days after birth, with an average of 49 hours of care allocated over this period. However, this can vary based on specific circumstances. For example, if there are medical challenges, additional hours may be granted, while time spent in the hospital can reduce the total hours of care. These hours and adjustments are strictly regulated to ensure every family receives appropriate support. I will work with you to create a care plan that maximizes the time available and meets your needs.

  • Yes, I provide guidance and support to help partners and siblings integrate into the new family dynamic. For partners, I offer tips on how to be actively involved in caregiving and ways to support the birthing parent emotionally and practically. For siblings, I guide parents on how to help their children adjust to the new family circumstances, fostering a sense of inclusion and harmony.

However, it’s important to note that my role does not include babysitting or direct childcare for siblings. My focus is on empowering parents and families to navigate these changes confidently and with ease.

  • One of my key roles as a maternity nurse is to help prevent infection and maintain a safe environment for you and your baby. This includes caring for the immediate surroundings of the mother and baby, such as ensuring the cleanliness of the mother’s bed, toilet, and the baby’s sleeping and changing areas. I also take steps to minimize potential risks by encouraging visitors to wash their hands and addressing any concerns if someone appears to have an illness that might pose a danger to your baby.

However, it’s important to note that I am not responsible for the general household. My focus is on creating a clean, calm, and nurturing environment that supports your recovery and your baby’s well-being.

  • Most kraamzorg services are covered by your Dutch health insurance, including the standard eigen bijdrage (personal contribution) as part of the kraamzorg package. Please check with your insurance provider to confirm the details of your coverage and any required co-payments.

In addition, I charge a small fee for material costs, which may include items such as herbal remedies, breastfeeding tools, or other specialized supplies used during your care. If there are any parking expenses incurred during my visits, I kindly expect these to be covered by you or for you to arrange a visitor’s parking permit where applicable. These costs will be discussed with you upfront so there are no surprises.

    Transparency and Support
I believe in being clear and transparent about all costs. If you have any questions about pricing or coverage, feel free to reach out, and I’ll be happy to assist.

  • If you have a medical situation within the first 10 days after birth, such as breastfeeding difficulties or an infection, I can add additional hours to your care. These extra hours are covered by your Dutch health insurance. In some very specific situations, there may be other possibilities for extended care during this period.

After the initial 10 days, if you require further support, you can book my Live Appointments or Online One-on-One Sessions. Please note that these services would need to be covered by you directly.

  • What Happens If You’re Fully Booked?
If I am fully booked and unable to provide kraamzorg, I can still support you through my Online One-on-One Sessions. These tailored sessions are designed to guide you through pregnancy, birth preparation, postpartum recovery, and parenting—offering holistic advice, emotional support, and practical tools from the comfort of your home.

Even if I cannot assist you in person, my online services ensure you receive personalized care and guidance tailored to your unique journey.
